9th ray on Philippine Flag to accomodate Muslims

Senate bill 3307 filed by Richard Gordon, Francis Escudero, Juan Miguel Zubiri, Ramon Revilla Jr and Jingoy Estrada.
Similar bill is filled in the House of representative, 6424.

Included on this bill is to add an extra sun ray in the Philippine flag making it 9. This is to recognize the Muslim who revolted against the Spanish government as what Richard Gordon argues.

I am a fan of Richard Gordon but not this time. Gordon should double check his facts, Gordon said that Lapu Lapu is among those Muslims who fought againts the Spaniards. This is wrong, there is no evidence that Lapu Lapu was a Muslim. Pigafetta who is our only written source about Lapu Lapu said that he is a heaten or a pagan. There is no evidence that Mactan is a Muslim territory in pre-Spaniard Philippines.

I don't see any reason why add the 9th ray other than to please the Muslims. Then, why not put more rays to the flag to recognize other provinces and ethnic groups who fought the Spaniards? Note that the rest of the rays were to recognize provinces, not ethnic groups, who revolted against the Spanish government.

Gordon further said that adding the 9th ray will help the Filipino unite. Gordon is wrong again, even if you put a crescent in the Philippine flag, the Islamist will not stop there demands for an Islamic state. Instead, what Gordon did was to encourage the Islamist to get what they want. For the Islamist, this is just a beginning of there victory.

Adding the 9th ray to our flag is stupid move by the Philippine congress, they did not think about it well. The country do not have the money to revise all of our text books and change our flags. The Philippine have big problems, we have ballooning deficit and debts, we should spent our money wisely and not to this nonsense legislation.

Mr. Gordon, now that you change the Philippine flag to accommodate the Muslims, what is next you are going to do for them?

Filipino maids are treated like slaves in the middle east.

MIDEAST: HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION, FILIPINO MAIDS 'SLAVES'
(ANSAmed) - DUBAI, NOVEMBER 18 - The parliamentary commission for Labour Affairs of the Philippines has urged the government to suspend the sending of domestic workers to the Middle East followed an inspection by three delegates to the region, who documented situations tantamount to "modern slavery", reports the daily paper Khaleej Times. The mission, sent by the parliament of the Philippines, visited five cities: Abu Dhabi and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, Riyadh and Jeddah in Saudi Arabia and Amman in Jordan. "We have seen violations in all three countries," said member of parliament Carlos Padillas, explaining that "some of the victims were tricked by the employment agencies, while others suffered physical and sexual abuse from their employers." Abuse and maltreatment have also been revealed by Human Rights Watch in Lebanon, where there is an ever-growing number of suicides among foreign domestic help. The director of the Immigration Department of Dubai, Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, refused to comment on the news, saying that the department had not yet been officially informed of the inspection. However, he added that if the information is proven accurate, then the Ministry for Foreign Affairs would take the necessary measures.
